Trevor Nelson to make BBC Radio return after brain tumour diagnosis

BBC Radio DJ Trevor Nelson is returning to his BBC Radio 2 show next week, after revealing he has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, and he will be back on BBC Radio 1Xtra on September 13th.

DJ Trevor Nelson is returning to his BBC Radio 2 show, after revealing he has been diagnosed with a brain tumour.
The 62-year-old broadcaster announced in June that he would be taking a break from his work commitments due to "health issues", and he informed fans about his diagnosis last month.
Now, Trevor has confirmed he will be back on BBC Radio 2 on Monday (07.09.26) in his afternoon slot from 2-4pm, and he will also return his BBC Radio 1Xtra show from Sunday 13th September at 11am.
He said: "I will be slowly easing my way back on to the airwaves from Monday on Radio 2 and next Sunday on 1Xtra.
"I look forward to being with you all then."
News of Trevor's return was revealed in a trail on Sara Cox’s Breakfast Show this morning at 8.50am, when Trevor popped up to ask: "Oh hi Sara Cox.... Have I missed anything?
"Now where were we before I was rudely interrupted?
"It’s been a minute, I know… but over the next few weeks I’m getting back to where I belong... In the Radio 2 studio, behind the microphone and spinning some records!
"It’s so good to be home and I’d be delighted if you could join me Monday afternoon from 2. Just ask your smart speaker to play BBC Radio 2, but for now Sara... 'It’s FRI-YAYYYYY' "
Trevor is making a staggered return to Radio 2, getting behind the mic for two days next week - Monday (7th) and Wednesday (9th); three days the week after - Monday (14th), Wednesday (16th), and Friday (18th); and four days the following week - Monday (21st), Tuesday (22nd), Thursday (24th) and Friday (25th); before returning full time onto the airwaves from Monday 28th September.
DJ Spoony, who has primarily stood in for Trevor in his absence, will be standing in on Tues (8th) and Friday (11th).
Clara Amfo will be stepping in on Thurs (10th) Tuesday (15th), Thursday (17th) and Wednesday (23rd).
Last month, Trevor said in a video message on Instagram: "A lot of you may have seen the post I put up at the start of summer, saying that I was stepping back from all my work commitments due to illness.
"There's been a lot of speculation as to what's wrong with me, I know that much. My phone's blown up 20 times over with people asking what's wrong with me.
"Due to the love and the positive vibes, thousands of you have been sending me, I felt that I should at least tell you what is wrong with me and what happened to me."
Trevor explained that he wasn't going to go into detail at present but said that he might "deep dive" into the "whole crazy story" at a later date.
He said: "I'll tell you this, I was minding my own business and then it was discovered that I had a brain tumour.
"As you can imagine, I was shocked. In fact, my world was turned upside down."
Trevor confirmed he had undergone "very serious surgery" that had gone well and admitted he felt "ready" to return to radio.
The DJ added: "I can only tell you the truth. I feel great right now, I feel ready to come back. I feel energised and almost back to myself.
"I've had a really serious situation but I've come out the other side and I feel great. I feel raring to go. I feel in good health."
